Cougars News · Jason Spray Named Head of Strength & Conditioning


Middle Tennessee Christian School Athletics is pleased to announce that Jason Spray has been named Director of Sport Performance/Head Strength and Conditioning Coach.

Coach Spray, a lifelong Murfreesboro native, and graduate of Oakland High School and Middle Tennessee State University, comes to MTCS after spending the last two years as the Director of Strength and Conditioning at Ensworth High School.

Before his time at Ensworth, Coach Spray was a longtime member of the Strength and Conditioning staff at MTSU from 2002-2017 including serving as the Head Football Strength Coach from 2012-2017.  During his tenure with the Blue Raiders, Coach Spray was named the 2011 Assistant Strength Coach of the Year by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), and since 2012 he has trained 24 players to make NFL Training Camps.

Coach Spray is a member of the NSCA and the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA). He is certified as a strength and conditioning specialist by the NSCA and the CSCCA and is certified by the National Association of Speed and Explosion. Coach Spray is also certified by USA Weightlifting as a club performance coach and is certified as a sports nutritionist through the International Fitness Professional Association.

Spray played on the first Division I-A football team at MTSU in 1999 and was the co-captain and starting fullback on the 2001 Sun Belt Conference championship team.

Coach Spray and his wife Karisse have two sons Jason Jr. and Jaxon.
